THE LYONS HOME
Creating a Household Sanctuary
Sometimes a small space can have a big impact.
In this second entrance our brief was to add light, openness and a some extra storage solutions. Our goal was to bring this largely forgotten, but important transition space from the garden and garage, back to life.
To start, we wanted to achieve an illusion of height to counter the low ceiling, so we added a vertical strip wallpaper by Borastapeter.
While the colour palette is neutral and calming, the pattern ensures it draws the eye and brings energy to the space.
Then we added natural oversized tiling to the floor to increase the volume of openness (we also ramped up the cozy factor by adding underfloor heating for those early morning dashes to the laundry)
Finally, we anchored the space by using large wooden furniture to give the room interest and texture, as well as some clever well loved storage solutions.
Our client loves the result, modern, functional, beautiful.
Whether journeying to the garden, garage or laundry this pathway will be a pleasure.
